1. Agreement to Our Legal Terms

We are Campus Marketplace LLC, doing business as Campus Plus+ ("Company," "we," "us," "our"). We operate the website at https://joincampusplus.app and the mobile application Campus Plus+, together with any related products and services that refer to these terms (collectively, the "Services").

You can contact us at support@joincampusplus.app, at https://joincampusplus.app, or by mail at 107 Highland Street, Newport Beach, CA 92663, United States.

These Legal Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Campus Marketplace LLC concerning your access to and use of the Services. By accessing the Services, you agree to be bound by these Legal Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use immediately.

We may update these Legal Terms at any time. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Our Services

The Services connect verified college students for peer-to-peer marketplace transactions and short-term gigs. Access requires a valid .edu email address. Information provided through the Services is not intended for use in any jurisdiction where such use would violate local law.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

Our intellectual property

We own or license all intellectual property rights in our Services, including source code, databases, software, design, text, photographs, and graphics (the "Content"), as well as our trademarks and logos (the "Marks"). Our Content and Marks are protected by copyright and trademark laws in the United States and internationally.

Your use of our Services

Subject to your compliance with these Legal Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the Services for your personal, non-commercial use. No part of the Services or Content may be copied, reproduced, distributed, or exploited for commercial purposes without our express written permission.

Your submissions

By sending us feedback, suggestions, or other information about the Services, you agree that we may use and share that feedback for any purpose without compensation to you. You retain ownership of any content you post through the Services (such as listings or messages), but you are solely responsible for it, and you represent that it complies with these Legal Terms and applicable law.

4. User Representations

By using the Services, you represent that: you have the legal capacity to agree to these Legal Terms; you are at least 18 years old; you hold a valid .edu email address; you will not access the Services through automated or non-human means; and your use of the Services will not violate any applicable law or regulation.

5. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any purpose other than personal, non-commercial Marketplace or Gigs transactions between verified students.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features of the Services.
  • Attempt to defraud or mislead us or other users, including in an attempt to learn account credentials.
  • Harass, threaten, or harm another user, or misuse our block/report tools by submitting false reports.
  • List or offer anything illegal, counterfeit, stolen, or unsafe.
  • Impersonate another user or create an account under a false identity or on behalf of a non-student.
  • Attempt to move payments off-platform to avoid fees or bypass buyer/seller protections.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access or extract data from the Services.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Services.

6. User Contributions

The Services may allow you to post listings, messages, reviews, and other content (collectively, "Contributions"). You retain ownership of your Contributions, but by posting them you grant us a license to display and distribute them within the Services. You are solely responsible for your Contributions and represent that they comply with these Legal Terms and all applicable laws.

7. Services Management

We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the Services for violations of these Legal Terms, take legal action against anyone who violates them, restrict or disable access to any Contribution, and otherwise manage the Services to protect our rights and ensure proper functioning.

8. Term and Termination

These Legal Terms remain in effect while you use the Services. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Legal Terms. If your account is terminated, you may not create a new account under a false or borrowed identity.

9. Modifications and Interruptions

We may change, modify, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time without notice, and we are not liable for any loss resulting from such changes or from downtime.

10. Governing Law

These Legal Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute arising from these Legal Terms.

11. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first at support@joincampusplus.app so we can attempt to resolve it informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally within 30 days may be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, as described above.

12. Disclaimer

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CONTENT ON THE SERVICES, AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, THE QUALITY OF ANY LISTING OR GIG, OR ANY IN-PERSON MEETUP ARRANGED THROUGH THE SERVICES. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR EXERCISING REASONABLE CAUTION IN ANY TRANSACTION OR MEETUP.

13. Limitations of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE FEES YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OR ALL OF THIS SECTION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any loss, damage, or claim, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of the Services, your breach of these Legal Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

15. Miscellaneous

These Legal Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services. Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to do so later. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. There is no partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship created between you and us as a result of these Legal Terms.

16. Marketplace: General Terms

This section and the two that follow govern the Campus Plus+ marketplace (buying and selling of clothes, furniture, textbooks, books, electronics, accessories, and household items) and the rental/lending feature (including dress rental). By listing, buying, renting, or lending an item through Campus Plus+, you agree to these additional terms. Section 17 covers Buying & Selling specifically; Section 18 covers Rentals specifically. Where Section 18 conflicts with Section 17, Section 18 controls for any transaction marked as a rental.

Eligibility & Payouts

Eligibility to buy, sell, rent, or list follows the same requirements as Section 4 above (verified .edu email, 18 years or older). Payouts are processed via Stripe Connect Express, and you must complete Stripe's identity verification (KYC) before you can receive funds.

Prohibited Items

The following may not be listed, sold, rented, or exchanged through Campus Plus+, in addition to the restrictions in Section 5:

  • Illegal goods, controlled substances, weapons, or items requiring a license to sell
  • Counterfeit or stolen goods
  • Items that violate university codes of conduct
  • Anything the seller or lender does not have the legal right to sell or lend

Violation may result in listing removal, account suspension, or referral to law enforcement.

Platform Role

Campus Plus+ (Campus Marketplace LLC) is a platform connecting students. We are not a party to the transaction between buyer and seller, or renter and lender. We do not take ownership or possession of items, and we are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of a listing, or for a user's failure to complete a transaction.

Fees

Platform fees are calculated on the full transaction amount and are deducted automatically at time of payment via Stripe. See Section 17.4 for Buy/Sell fees and Section 18.5 for Rental fees.

Disputes & In-Person Meetups

Beyond the process in Section 11, we may, at our discretion, offer mediation between users for a marketplace or rental dispute, but we do not guarantee a resolution and are not liable for the outcome. Communicate through the in-app Messages feature so there is a record of the agreement. Campus Plus+ provides a map pin, address, date, and time for confirmed meetups but does not vet meetup locations or supervise exchanges — meet in public, well-lit, populated areas when possible.

17. Buying & Selling Terms

17.1 Listings

Sellers must accurately describe an item's condition, price, and any defects. Misrepresentation may result in a refund obligation and/or account suspension. Photos must be of the actual item being sold, not stock images, unless clearly disclosed (for example, new or sealed textbooks).

17.2 Payment

All payments are processed through Stripe. Cash transactions arranged outside the app are not covered by any Campus Plus+ protections. Funds are held and released to the seller's connected Stripe account on Stripe's standard payout schedule (exact timing to be confirmed and published here).

17.3 Refunds & Returns

All sales are final unless the item received materially differs from the listing description (wrong item, materially misrepresented condition, or non-delivery). Buyers must report an issue within a set window of receiving the item (window to be confirmed and published here) to be eligible for a refund review. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method; whether platform fees on a refunded transaction are refunded follows Stripe's refund fee policy (to be confirmed and published here).

17.4 Marketplace Fees

TierBuyer FeeSeller FeeCap
Free4%4%$20 per side
Campus+ Pro2.5%2.5%$15 per side

Fees apply to the full transaction amount, per Stripe's processing model.

17.5 Seller & Buyer Obligations

Sellers must ship or hand off the exact item described, in the condition described, within the timeframe agreed in Messages, and are responsible for accurately representing textbook editions, electronics functionality, and clothing sizing or condition. Buyers must pay through the app — not off-platform cash apps — to remain eligible for dispute support, and should inspect items promptly upon receipt.

18. Rental Terms

Applies to any listing marked as a rental or loan, including dress rental, rather than a sale.

18.1 Rental Agreement Formation

A rental agreement is formed when the renter pays through the app for a specified rental period and the lender confirms the meetup for handoff. The confirmation card (rental item, dates, price, meetup details) constitutes the agreed rental terms between the two users.

18.2 Rental Period

The rental period begins at the confirmed pickup time and ends at the confirmed return time shown on the confirmation card. Both parties are responsible for coordinating pickup and return through Messages.

18.3 Condition & Damage

The renter is responsible for returning the item in the same condition it was received, normal wear excepted. For damage, staining, or loss, the renter is responsible for reasonable repair or cleaning costs, or, if the item is lost or damaged beyond reasonable repair, its fair market value as reasonably documented by the lender. A refundable deposit held via Stripe at booking may apply to a given rental listing; deposit amounts and thresholds are being finalized and will be published here once set. Lenders are encouraged to photograph an item's condition before handoff, and renters are encouraged to do the same at pickup and return.

18.4 Late Returns

Items not returned by the confirmed end time may incur a late fee, payable by the renter to the lender (fee amount to be confirmed and published here). Repeated late returns may result in suspension of rental privileges.

18.5 Rental Fees

TierRenter FeeLender FeeCap
Free5%5%None
Campus+ Pro3.5%3.5%None

18.6 Cancellations

Renter cancellations made sufficiently far ahead of pickup are eligible for a full refund; cancellations closer to pickup, or a no-show, may receive a partial refund or forfeiture at the lender's discretion, minus platform fees already incurred (exact cancellation window and refund percentage to be confirmed and published here). A lender cancellation after confirmation results in a full refund to the renter; repeated lender cancellations may affect their ability to list rentals.

18.7 Prohibited Rental Conduct

Subletting or re-renting an item to a third party without the lender's consent is prohibited. Altering a rented item (hemming, dyeing, or other permanent alterations) without the lender's consent is a damage event under Section 18.3.

18.8 Liability

As with the Services generally under Section 12 and Section 13, Campus Marketplace LLC is not a party to the rental agreement, does not inspect items, and is not liable for damage, loss, injury, or disputes arising from a rental transaction or in-person exchange.
